Description

This Dark Chocolate Pecan Pie blends the richness of melted dark chocolate with the crunch of toasted pecans in a flaky, buttery crust. Made with natural ingredients, it offers a perfect balance of gooey sweetness and nutty texture, ideal for any occasion and customizable to fit dietary preferences.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 batch flaky, tender pie crust dough
  • plant-based butter (for the crust)

Filling

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toasted pecans
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (natural)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (natural)
  • 1 tsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 1 tsp natural vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp natural gelling agent
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Roll out the pie crust dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Gently transfer the dough into the pan, pressing it against the edges and trimming any excess. Chill the crust in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
  2. Toast the pecans: Place the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently until fragrant and slightly darker in color. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Make the chocolate filling: Melt the plant-based butter over low heat in a saucepan. Stir in the brown sugar (natural), maple syrup (natural), and sea salt until smooth. Whisk in the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar (natural), natural vanilla extract, and natural gelling agent. Remove from heat and gently fold in the dark chocolate chips and toasted pecans, ensuring even distribution without breaking the nuts.
  4. Assemble and bake: Pour the filling into the chilled crust, smoothing it evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center. Cool completely to allow the filling to set perfectly.
  5. Chill and serve: Refrigerate the pie for at least two hours before serving to meld flavors and ensure clean slices.

Notes

  • Keep butter cold while preparing crust for flakier texture.
  • Toast and add pecans last to maintain crunch and prevent bitterness.
  • Watch baking time to keep the filling gooey and irresistible.
  • Use natural gelling agent to achieve perfect filling set.
  • Chilling the pie after baking improves slicing and flavor melding.
