Description

Hot Honey Chicken is a delightful dish that perfectly balances sweet and spicy flavors, using simple pantry ingredients to create a juicy, tender meal ready in under 30 minutes. This versatile recipe is ideal for busy weeknights or special occasions, offering adjustable spice levels and a rich, flavorful glaze made with natural hot honey and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons natural hot honey (adjust to taste)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper to ensure a crispy, flavorful crust when cooked.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down and cook without moving them until the skin is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the same skillet. Sauté until fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute. Stir in natural hot honey, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Mix well and let the sauce simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.
  4. Cook and Glaze: Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, spooning the hot honey sauce over each piece. Cover loosely and allow the chicken to cook in the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked through and the glaze has thickened.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Remove the skillet from heat. Let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes to lock in the juices before serving. Optionally, garnish with fresh chopped parsley or cilantro.

Notes

  • Choose skin-on, bone-in thighs for maximum flavor and juiciness.
  • Allow each side of the chicken to sear properly without moving for a crisp, caramelized crust.
  • Adjust the amount of natural hot honey and red pepper flakes gradually based on your preferred spice level.
  • Use freshly minced garlic for vibrant flavor.
  • Let the chicken rest slightly before serving to evenly distribute juices.
