Ingredients
Shrimp and Bacon
- Fresh peeled and deveined shrimp – 1 pound
- Smoked turkey bacon – 4 slices
- Plant-based butter – 3 tablespoons, divided
Flavor Base
- Fresh garlic, minced – 4 cloves
- Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) – 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
- Grape juice – 1/4 cup
- Natural gelling agent – 1 teaspoon
Finishing Touches
- Plant-based Parmesan cheese – 1/2 cup, shredded
- Fresh parsley, chopped – 2 tablespoons
- Red pepper flakes (optional) – 1/4 teaspoon
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp and Bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the smoked turkey bacon slices until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside. Wipe the skillet clean, then add 1 tablespoon of plant-based butter. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes per side, until pink and starting to curl. Remove shrimp and set aside with the bacon.
- Build the Flavor Base: Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of plant-based butter to the hot skillet. Sauté the minced garlic until golden and fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Pour in the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and grape juice to deglaze the pan and create a flavorful sauce. Stir in the natural gelling agent to thicken the sauce slightly.
- Combine and Finish: Return the cooked shrimp and crispy bacon to the skillet. Sprinkle the plant-based Parmesan cheese over the top and allow it to melt slowly over the warm ingredients. Stir gently to coat everything in the creamy, garlicky sauce. Finish by adding the chopped fresh parsley and optional red pepper flakes before serving.
Notes
- Do not overcook shrimp; remove as soon as they turn pink to keep them tender.
- Use fresh garlic for the best aroma and flavor.
- Cook bacon separately to keep it crispy before adding back to the skillet.
- Adjust the amount of natural gelling agent to control sauce thickness.
- Add lemon juice at the end to preserve its bright flavor.
