Description

Sticky Honey Garlic Cauliflower is a quick and flavorful plant-based dish featuring crispy cauliflower florets coated in a luscious sticky honey garlic sauce (natural). This dish combines sweet, tangy, and savory notes creating a versatile appetizer or main that is perfect for busy days, kid-friendly, and deliciously simple to make.

Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower and Batter

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup plant-based milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey (natural)
  • 4 garlic cloves, freshly minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1/4 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, freshly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower: Wash and cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets, ensuring they are roughly equal in size for even cooking and a perfect crunch on all sides.
  2. Make the Batter: In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour and plant-based milk, whisking until smooth. This light batter will coat the cauliflower to help it fry crispy and provide a great base for the sauce to cling to.
  3. Fry the Cauliflower: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, shaking off excess batter. Fry in batches for 4-5 minutes each, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Prepare the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce: In a separate saucepan, combine honey (natural), freshly minced garlic, soy sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and natural gelling agent. Gently heat over medium-low heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky and glossy.
  5. Toss and Serve: Place the fried cauliflower in a large mixing bowl and pour the sticky honey garlic sauce over it. Toss well to coat every piece luxuriously. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh cauliflower florets for crispier frying and better sauce absorption.
  • Fry in batches without overcrowding to maintain cauliflower crispiness.
  • Adjust the sauce thickness by adding a little water if too thick or more natural gelling agent as needed.
  • Stir sauce continuously while heating to prevent burning and ensure a glossy finish.
  • Serve immediately after tossing with the sauce to enjoy optimal texture.
