Ingredients
Scale
Cauliflower and Batter
- 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup plant-based milk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce
- 1/3 cup honey (natural)
- 4 garlic cloves, freshly minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (natural)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
- 1/4 teaspoon natural gelling agent
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, freshly sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the Cauliflower: Wash and cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets, ensuring they are roughly equal in size for even cooking and a perfect crunch on all sides.
- Make the Batter: In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour and plant-based milk, whisking until smooth. This light batter will coat the cauliflower to help it fry crispy and provide a great base for the sauce to cling to.
- Fry the Cauliflower: Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, shaking off excess batter. Fry in batches for 4-5 minutes each, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Prepare the Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce: In a separate saucepan, combine honey (natural), freshly minced garlic, soy sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and natural gelling agent. Gently heat over medium-low heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky and glossy.
- Toss and Serve: Place the fried cauliflower in a large mixing bowl and pour the sticky honey garlic sauce over it. Toss well to coat every piece luxuriously. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh cauliflower florets for crispier frying and better sauce absorption.
- Fry in batches without overcrowding to maintain cauliflower crispiness.
- Adjust the sauce thickness by adding a little water if too thick or more natural gelling agent as needed.
- Stir sauce continuously while heating to prevent burning and ensure a glossy finish.
- Serve immediately after tossing with the sauce to enjoy optimal texture.
