Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 4 fresh salmon fillets, skin-on (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Slaw

  • 2 cups thinly sliced green cabbage
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise (plant-based)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Tortillas and Garnishes

  • 8 soft corn tortillas
  • Extra lime wedges, for serving
  • Additional fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Optional: creamy plant-based sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry. Rub evenly with olive oil, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), ground cumin, smoked paprika (natural), garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Let rest briefly to absorb the flavors.
  2. Make the Slaw: In a large bowl, combine thinly sliced green cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped red onion. Add mayonnaise (plant-based), apple cider vinegar (natural), fresh lime juice, salt, and chopped cilantro. Toss thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated. Set aside to meld flavors.
  3. Air Fry the Salmon: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not overlap. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until the salmon is crispy on the outside and flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: While the salmon cooks, warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or briefly in the air fryer to make them soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Once cooked, gently break salmon into portions that fit the tortillas. Place salmon pieces on each tortilla, top generously with the zesty slaw, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Garnish with extra cilantro or plant-based sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Use the freshest salmon for best results.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer to allow for even cooking and crisping.
  • Shred cabbage and carrots finely for an ideal crunchy slaw texture.
  • Warming the tortillas slightly helps with folding and taste.
  • Adjust spiciness by adding chili powder or fresh jalapeños according to preference.
