Description

These delightful Cake Pops are bite-sized, plant-based treats perfect for parties and snacking. Made with simple natural ingredients, they offer customizable flavors and colorful coatings that make for an eye-catching, fun dessert everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Cake Base

  • Your favorite plant-based cake, finely crumbled (about 3 cups)

Frosting

  • Plant-based (dairy) frosting, 1/2 cup

Coating & Flavorings

  • Natural food coloring (as desired)
  • Natural gelling agent (such as agar or pectin), quantity as required for coating
  • Apple cider vinegar or grape juice, 1/4 cup (for melting natural gelling agent coating)
  • Natural flavor extracts (vanilla or almond), 1 tsp

Toppings

  • Sprinkles (natural), as desired
  • Crushed nuts or shredded coconut, as desired

Others

  • Sticks for holding Cake Pops

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Base: Start with a freshly baked or store-bought plant-based cake, crumbling it finely into a large mixing bowl to create a crumbly texture that will bind well.
  2. Mix with Plant-Based Frosting: Add a few spoonfuls of plant-based (dairy) frosting to the crumbs. Stir gently until combined into a moldable dough that holds its shape when pressed together.
  3. Shape into Balls: Roll the mixture into small, uniform balls about 1 inch in diameter, ensuring they are compact enough to stay on the sticks nicely.
  4. Chill the Cake Balls: Place the shaped balls onto a tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up, making the coating process much easier.
  5. Prepare the Natural Gelling Agent Coating: Melt a natural gelling agent mixture with grape juice or apple cider vinegar for a glossy and flavorful shell that will coat each Cake Pop beautifully.
  6. Dip and Decorate: Insert sticks into the chilled balls, then dip each Cake Pop into the melted coating to cover fully. While still wet, add sprinkles, crushed nuts, or other toppings to your liking.
  7. Let Them Set and Enjoy: Stand the dipped Cake Pops in a foam block or upright container to set at room temperature or refrigerate for a firmer finish before serving.

Notes

  • Choose fresh plant-based cake to keep your pops moist and flavorful.
  • Do not overmix; blend just until the mixture holds together to keep the texture light.
  • Chill the cake balls properly to prevent them from falling off the sticks during dipping.
  • Use room temperature coating for a smooth and even cover over your Cake Pops.
  • Decorate quickly by adding toppings immediately for the best adhesion before the coating hardens.
