Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Begin by mixing cold plant-based butter with granulated sugar until creamy and fluffy. Slowly add all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract (natural), and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) while stirring gently to form a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour to make it easier to handle and ensure a tender texture.
  2. Roll and Cut: Once the dough is chilled, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out uniform circles and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet for filling.
  3. Add the Filling: Place a small spoonful of your chosen fruit jam or preserves (natural) thickened with a natural gelling agent into the center of each dough circle. Be careful not to overfill to avoid leakage when baking.
  4. Fold and Seal: Fold the edges of each dough circle toward the center, gently pinching to form the traditional Kolachy shape. Make sure edges are well sealed to keep the filling inside during baking.
