Ingredients
Scale
Seafood
- 1 lb fresh or frozen shrimp, peeled or unpeeled
- 1 whole crab or crab clusters
- 6 slices smoked turkey bacon
Vegetables
- 8 small red potatoes, halved
- 3 ears corn on the cob, cut into thirds
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, sliced thick
Seasonings & Sauces
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
- 2 tbsp seafood seasoning blend (paprika, cayenne, black pepper, other spices)
- Salt to taste
Garnish & Extras
- Fresh parsley or dill, chopped
- Natural gelling agent (optional, for broth texture)
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Broth and Seasoning: Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water and heat over medium-high heat. Add the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar (natural), seafood seasoning blend, minced garlic, and sliced onions. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Cook the Potatoes and Corn: Add the halved red potatoes to the boiling broth first and cook for about 10 minutes. Then, add the corn on the cob pieces to the pot and continue boiling until the vegetables are tender and infused with the seasoning, about 8-10 more minutes.
- Add the Smoked Turkey Bacon and Seafood: Add the smoked turkey bacon slices to the pot to infuse their smoky flavor. Carefully place the shrimp and crab into the boiling broth and cook just until the seafood turn tender and bright in color, about 3 to 5 minutes. Avoid overcooking to keep the seafood tender.
- Drain and Serve: Use a slotted spoon or large strainer to remove all ingredients from the pot. Arrange the potatoes, corn, turkey bacon, shrimp, and crab on a large serving platter or a newspaper-lined table for a communal and casual feast. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or dill and serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Use fresh seafood for the best flavor and texture.
- Cook in batches if the pot is crowded to ensure even cooking and seasoning absorption.
- Be generous with seasoning to create a flavorful broth base.
- Check seafood doneness frequently to prevent overcooking.
- Serve immediately or cover to keep warm and tasty.
